behind the camera

plant + puppy nurturer, space + fantasy nerd, high key sugar addict

just a few of the things that make up your new friend for life

Don’t let the photos fool you, I’m just as camera shy as you.

(see the difference a great photographer can make?)

I’m Moriel, pronounced more-ee-elle (if you get it right the first time I’ll love you forever). When I’m not traveling and shooting amazing weddings and elopements, you’ll most likely find me at home with my rescue pup Sadie, curled up with a fantasy romance novel and sweet snack or tending to my plant babies. I’m a textbook Pisces, so yes, I am a true romantic at heart and love all things sappy. It’s no surprise I landed myself in the wedding industry and made sure I can be surrounded by all things love every single day. My top love languages are words of affirmation and quality time, so there’s nothing more fulfilling to me than spending the day exploring with my couples and getting to know them and their relationship on a deeper level, and then hearing what they love about their photos once the gallery has been delivered.

I owe my love and acceptance of all people to my multicultural upbringing, and all the travel I’ve been lucky enough to experience. A little random fact about me is that I immigrated to the states when I was 7, and that shaped who I am today the most out of all my life experiences. I am naturally introverted (I need a LOT of down time to re-charge my social battery) but I find myself coming to life through my work and the moments I get to capture for my couples. If you’re down to earth and cherish experiences over things, chances are we will vibe really freaking well.

My heart + soul, Sadie

She’s my $50 donation rescue pup with a million dollar smile, and I don’t know what I would do without her. She’s one of the blessings in my life I received as a result of living in Hawaii for three years, although her fear of the ocean might tell you other wise. She MUCH prefers climbing mountain trails, but her default setting is couch potato. Flying her across the ocean to California was definitely one of the hardest things about leaving Hawaii, but she’s living her absolute best life which includes lots of sun bathing daily and outrunning all the other dogs at the park. Mahalo nui to Paws of Hawaii for giving her a second chance at life https://www.pawsofhawaii.org

A few more things that make my heart happy…

— being offered dessert at a wedding

— scoring an amazing find at the thrift

— beach combing and diving for shells

— a plot twist so good I don’t see it coming

— deep ass conversations that start with one subject and end somewhere completely different

— mustard yellow, rust, sage green

— seeing a rainbow or shooting star

“You want someone who feels like a close friend when taking such important photos, and Moriel felt like just that”.
